SUMMARY:REMOTE AREA TRAUMA EDUCATION (RATE)
DESCRIPTION:POSTPONED\n\n\n\nLocation: Tennant Creek \n\n\n\nNumber of participants: Min 12 / Max 18 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis 1-day course is designed to provide remote area health professionals with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be able to safely assess and manage trauma patients within the RemoteArea Health Centre until the arrival of the retrieval team. \n\n\n\nRATE is provided in Remote Health Centres with an emphasis on practical skills\, small interactive groups and relevant scenarios. \n\n\n\nBy the end of the course participants will be able to: \n\n\n\n\nDescribe the initial assessment of the trauma patient in a remote setting.\n\n\n\nDemonstrate the assessment and management of a compromised airway (utilising basic and advanced airway manoeuvres).\n\n\n\nDemonstrate the assessment and management of chest / trauma injuries.\n\n\n\nDemonstrate the assessment and management of spinal injuries and haemorrhage control.\n\n\n\nDemonstrate how to provide an effective clinical handover.\n\n\n\nDescribe the requirements for retrieval and transport of the remote trauma patient.\n\n\n\nThe Trauma Scenarios provide an opportunity for participants to demonstrate and consolidate key learning points of the day.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSuitable Participants: \n\n\n\nThis course is aimed at Remote Area Health personnel including Remote Medical Practitioners (RMP’s)\, Remote Area Nurses and Midwives (RANs) and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners (ATSIHPs). \n\n\n\nIn some regions we have had other support staff also attend for example Fire & Rescue\, NT Police and Clinic Ambulance Drivers or SJA.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Cost: \n\n\n\nThis course is under agreement with NT Health and is sponsored by the NCCTRC. \n\n\n\n[prices and course availability are subject to change] \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n*REGISTER AN EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – APPLICATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO REVIEW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nParticipants Testimonials \n\n\n\n“Hands on experience and familiarisation of equipment” \n\n\n\n“Reinforcing patient care\, use of equipment and team building” \n\n\n\n“Having a better understanding of equipment / other resources available in remote clinics”

DESCRIPTION:Open for registration \n\n\n\nRegistrations close: February 16th\, 2024  \n\n\n\nNumber of participants: Max 12\n\n\n\nLocation: Gove/Nhulunbuy \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCriteria of Attendance \n\n\n\nThis course is limited to nursing and medical staff working in Emergency\, Surgical\, Intensive Care or Anaesthesia \, and those whose current role is to work in trauma team resuscitation. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nObjectives of the course is \n\n\n\nTo use a structured team approach for early recognition and stabilisation of traumatic emergencies presenting to the trauma centre \n\n\n\nEffective team leadership and team interaction \n\n\n\nSkills for working effectively at an organisational level\, including decision-making regarding consultation and disposition \n\n\n\nSkills for safe practice and error minimisation \n\n\n\nDeveloping an understanding of and familiarity with the concept of crisis resource management is a 1-day course to familiarise participants with the concepts of crisis resource management through the use of simulation based training scenarios. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Cost: \n\n\n\nNorthern Territory Government staff members: $115 (pp incl. GST) \n\n\n\nNon-Northern Territory Government staff: $130 (pp incl.GST)
