DESCRIPTION:Major Incident Medical Management and Support \n\n\n\nRegistration Closes: 18 February 2027 \n\n\n\nNumber of participants: Min 10 / Max 24 \n\n\n\nLocation: Alice Springs \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe 2-day MIMMS course provides participants with a structured approach to respond to a mass casualty incident at the scene\, with the focus on the role of the team member. \n\n\n\nThe content includes command safety\, communication\, assessment\, triage\, treatment and transport\, through: \n\n\n\n\nStructured lectures\n\n\n\nA series of table-top exercises\n\n\n\nPractical exercises in radio communication\n\n\n\nCasualty simulation triage exercises\n\n\n\nWorkshops\n\n\n\nField exercises for command training involving airport and large crowd incidents (sports or similar)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSuitable Participants: \n\n\n\nThose in senior positions likely to take a coordination or command role or those involved with staff development/training. A manual and materials are supplied as part of this course. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Cost: \n\n\n\nNorthern Territory Government staff (includes Defence and Emergency Services): $600 [pp incl. DESCRIPTION:Hospital Major Incident Medical Management and Support \n\n\n\nRegistration closes: 18 February 2027 \n\n\n\nNumber of participants: Min 12 / Max 24 \n\n\n\nLocation: Alice Springs \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhilst traditional MIMMS teaches a structured approach to responding to a mass casualty at the incident site\, Hospital MIMMS (HMIMMS) focusses on the delivery of care in the hospital environment and is aimed at the hospital staff responsible for planning\, training and managing a major incident. \n\n\n\nThis 2-day course explores the priorities and responsibilities of hospital clinical and administrative responders facing a mass casualty incident. An all-hazard approach is adopted while special incidents such as burns\, and CBRN are also discussed. The concept of the scalable hierarchy is introduced as a fundamental concept in the hospital-based response. \n\n\n\nThe course comprises of online pre-course modular components\, lectures\, workshops and novel interactive tabletop exercises\, simulating the challenges facing responders during the phases of reception\, definitive care and recovery. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse objectives include: \n\n\n\n\nType and incidence of major incidents and the need for an effective response and management planning.\n\n\n\nUnderstand and able to implement and follow the seven principles encapsulated in the CSCATTT approach to successfully managing a major incident.\n\n\n\nUnderstand the need for major incident training\, focusing on those aspects of the plan which do not occur in day-to-day practice\, i.e.\, command\, control\, communication and mass casualty triage.\n\n\n\nAble to deliver the medical support needed for major incidents in the hospital setting using the concept of collapsible hierarchies.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSuitable Participants:  \n\n\n\nThis course is aimed at both clinical and non-clinical personnel who would be involved in managing a major incident in the hospital. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Cost: \n\n\n\nNorthern Territory Government staff (plus Defence and Emergency services): $400 [pp incl.
