In February, the most intense tropical cyclone to make landfall in the Southern Hemisphere caused the Fijian Government to declare a state of emergency which remained in place for 60 days. Winston's devastating impact prompted a major international humanitarian response. The total patient numbers treated by the two deployed teams totalled 1,768 over three weeks.
