2020 – Northwest Tasmania – COVID-19
In April of 2020, between 4,000 and 5,000 Tasmanians were forced into two weeks of quarantine as part of the shutdown of two hospitals on the north-west coast as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak in the region.
AUSMAT and the Australian Defence Force, in a joint operation, were called in to assist in maintaining essential emergency care services including retrieval and critical care, while also containing the spread of the virus in the region.
