Conference sponsorship

The PHOENIX program offers a limited number of travel and accommodation sponsorships to attend public health emergency preparedness and response conferences in the Indo-Pacific region.

Who can apply?

Practitioners, researchers, educators, representatives and decision-makers working in public health or health emergency response-related fields may apply. Eligible disciplines include public health medicine, veterinary science, agriculture, government, policy, sociology and anthropology.

Applicants must be working in one of these fields in the countries listed below.

Cambodia, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Indonesia, Kiribati, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Vietnam.

Please note applicants must be currently working for government ministries.

As outlined in the original correspondence, all required supporting documentation was to be submitted by 18 March 2026 for applications to be considered.

How to become a recipient of conference sponsorship?

To be considered for conference sponsorship you must complete the online nomination form via the link below based on the selection criteria by Wednesday 18 March 2026. Nominations without this form will not be accepted.

Once the online nomination form has been completed, an automated email will be sent to the nominated email address with a request to provide the following documents:

  • CV of the nominated health professional.
  • a formal nomination letter from the permanent secretary (or a delegated representative) for the nominated health professional.

A panel will review the nominations and applicants will be advised of the outcome in early April 2026.

Global Health Security Conference 2026

The mission of the Global Health Security Conference is to provide a forum where leaders, researchers, policymakers and representatives from government, international organisations, civil society and private industry to engage, review the latest research and policy innovations, and agree solutions for making the world safer and healthier. To this end, the Conference aims to foster a genuinely multidisciplinary community of practice committed to collaborative action to enhance global health security and eliminate disease, irrespective of its origin or source.

Who should attend:
The Conference will bring together practitioners, researchers, educators, representatives and decision-makers across the fields of public health, medicine, veterinary science, agriculture, government, defence, international relations, sociology and anthropology to examine progress made to date in strengthening health systems and to identify gaps and opportunities to enhance the international community’s ability to respond more efficiently and effectively to future health crises.

Communicable Diseases and Immunisation Conference 2026

Mission:
The 2026 Communicable Diseases and Immunisation Conference, themed “Public Health at Risk – Collective Solutions to New Challenges”, aims to unite the public health community at a pivotal time marked by shifting global leadership, declining immunisation coverage, climate pressures and reduced trust in institutions. As Australia enters a new era with the establishment of the national Centre for Disease Control, the Conference will explore how advances, including emerging artificial intelligence can be harnessed while managing the risks they present. Delegates are invited to share ideas, innovations and local solutions that strengthen communicable disease prevention and control.

Who should attend:
This Conference is designed for stakeholders who influence or deliver communicable disease control and immunisation programs at system or practice levels. Attendees include government representatives, health professionals across clinical, community and public health roles, researchers, epidemiologists, laboratory scientists, policymakers, non-government and community sector organisations, vaccine program managers, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation staff, and early career professionals. Anyone committed to improving public health systems, building capacity and driving collective solutions to emerging challenges will find value in this event.
