2022 – Alice Springs Correctional Centre – Northern Territory

In late January, 2022, the RRT were deployed in response to a COVID-19 outbreak at Alice Springs Correctional Centre. In order to identify all positive cases and to reduce further transmission between inmates, the Northern Territory Centre for Disease Control (CDC) recommended that a PCR testing blitz be conducted of all inmates in the facility. Over the course of two days, the NCCTRC RRT carried out 580 PCR swabs of the inmate population.
