The NCCTRC was honoured to receive a visit from Senator the Hon Penny Wong during her visit to Darwin recently.
Senator Wong toured NCCTRC headquarters and was briefed on all elements of AUSMAT deployments, from red bags through to IT and water management in a disaster zone.
The tour allowed Senator Wong to engage with NCCTRC and AUSMAT personnel, understand the evolution of the centre, and explore expectations for the future.
“This year represents 20 years of the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre, which was developed in the wake of the 2002 Bali Bombings, as an organisation we have taken leaps and bounds in our ability to prepare and deploy in response to disasters across the Asia Pacific,” Professor Len Notaras said.
“With this evolution in mind, it was wonderful to have Senator Wong visit and connect with our story and our incredible team.”
