Dr Sophia (Sophie) Bowman-Derrick

Senior Research Officer

Sophie joined the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre as Senior Research Officer in the Public Health Directorate in 2025. She comes with expertise in public health and epidemiology following the completion of her Master of Applied Epidemiology at the Australian National University. Her professional interests include One Health, disease surveillance and antimicrobial resistance.

Sophie is an experienced veterinarian and epidemiologist and is currently pursuing a career in medicine through the Flinders Northern Territory Medical Program. She has contributed to multiple research projects at the Menzies School of Health Research and Flinders University and developed educational resources and guidelines on the use of antimicrobials in animals through her work with the AMR Vet Collective.
